Sermon Notes

A Prayer of Renewal

Before Nehemiah began rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, he first turned to God in deep, honest prayer. In the same way, we begin our new year with spiritual humility—seeking God’s vision and realigning our lives with His covenant promises. Nehemiah’s prayer was not only lament but also preparation: through confession, remembrance, and trust, he opened himself to God’s calling. As we engage in the Wesleyan Covenant Renewal service today, we follow Nehemiah’s pattern—offering ourselves wholly to God and committing anew to the work of renewal God sets before us, both within and beyond our church walls.
