The Odyssey

“The Long Road Home.” What is the greatest longing of our heart but a longing for home – the place where we belong. Homer’s epic is one of the greatest journey stories in literature. And Nolan’s Odysseus is a masterful retelling. Odysseus must navigate pride, longing, temptation, and violence on the way home. And in Nolan’s tale, the hero must wrestle with the fact he is no hero at all. Christian faith asks what it means to be brought home by grace, shaped by repentance, and restored to right relationship with God and neighbor. We are not there yet. But , God willing, we are on our way.
